Dr. Ashlee Andrews
Dr. Rachel Barnes, DVM
Born and raised in Albuquerque, Dr. Rachel Barnes received her veterinary degree from Colorado State University in 2013. She completed her undergraduate work at the New Mexico Institute of Mining and Technology, where she received her bachelor’s degree in biology in 2009.
Dr. Barnes’ interests include exotic animals (reptiles in particular) and small animal internal medicine.
Outside of work she enjoys reading, playing tennis, and watching anime.
Dr. Karen Slack, DVM
Dr. Karen Slack graduated from the University of Illinois College of Veterinary Medicine in 1986. Dr. Slack practices small animal medicine and surgery. She has a strong interest in internal medicine.
When she is not busy treating patients, Dr. Slack loves hiking, traveling to new places, and reading.
Dr. Silvia Rodriguez
Dr. Niccolett Ochoa is a New Mexico native, born and raised in Albuquerque. She made her way to Ohio State University where she earned her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine in 2020. She returned home after graduation and has worked in our community for the last 2 years. She’s now very excited to make the shift from general practice to mobile/at-home care. Dr. Ochoa’s special interests include veterinary nutrition, general surgery, and end of life care. When she’s not working, she spends most of her time with her four dogs and two cats. Of course, they wouldn’t all cooperate for the photo, so Maple is the only one pictured.
Dr. Jenny Sprott-Smith
Dr. Clara Hansen was originally born in Würzburg, Germany and moved to Las Cruces at a young age. She always had a passion for helping animals and started working in veterinary clinics while in high school where her love for veterinary medicine started. She attended New Mexico State University where she received a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology. She then attended Colorado State University and received her doctorate in Veterinary Medicine in 2022.
Her special interests include preventive medicine, soft tissue surgery, and internal medicine. She strives to foster the human-animal bond and create long-lasting relationships with her clients. She shares her home with her boyfriend Tanner, Golden Retriever named Pennie, and Chocolate Lab named Jaxon. In her free time, she loves spending time outdoors with her family, fishing, hiking, and camping.
Dr. Danielle Dawkins received her veterinary degree from Washington State University College of Veterinary Medicine in 2010. She completed her undergraduate studies at New Mexico State University where she graduated Suma Cum Laude in 2005 with her bachelor’s degree in animal science.
Born and raised in southern New Mexico Dr. Dawkins always wanted to be a veterinarian. As a child, she would often be found on her family farm playing with dogs, cats, horses, goats, and any other animal that happened to wander onto the property. As a veterinarian, Dr. Dawkins is happiest in the surgery suite and has a special interest in and love for giant breed dogs.
Outside of the clinic, Dr. Dawkins can be found hiking with her husband and dogs, rock climbing, cooking, or playing a game of dungeons and dragons. She also enjoys traveling and trying new foods and activities.
